October 11 - History of Maps and Map Making & Start Court Cartographer Project

Hello ladies and gentlemen,

Welcome back and great to see you beautiful people!  We are almost done with our first week back!  Huzzah!  Today in class we will be discussing (and hopefully reviewing) the history of early maps and map making.  Most of this should be a review from the reading and annotation assignment from before the break.  After we finish our discussion we will also be starting our Curt Cartographer project!  I love this project and always enjoy seeing what everyone produces!  I look forward to our work today!  Below you will find our agenda, homework, and resources for the day.

Objectives:
  1. Discuss a history of map making with an emphasis on answering questions related to the content
  2. Read and annotate a unique story from a fictional explorer and create a map based on the information provided
Agenda:
  1. Review the Time Zone Project
  2. History Today #13
  3. Discuss/Review A History of Map Making
  4. Introduce Court Cartographer Project
    1. Court Cartographer Project Rubric
Homework:
  1. None
That's all for the day folks!  I hope that you have a wonderful and glorious weekend!  Take care!

Live long and prosper,

Mr. Marchetti
