August 29

Hello ladies and gentlemen,

It was great seeing you all in class today.  Today you had your first opportunity to work with your partner on the research project for the Five Themes Fairytale.  It was a rally schedule today so we only had a short time together but I hope you were able to get a lot done!

Have a great weekend ladies and gentlemen, don't forget that Monday is Labor Day!

Updates about tomorrow August 25!

Hello ladies and gentlemen,

So just wanted to remind you that I will not be on campus tomorrow, I will be at the District Office attending a training.  I have a substitute teacher and you will be investigating about the Five Themes of Geography.  Please remember to be on your best behavior while I am away.

I also wanted to let you know that there has been a change of plans from the administration regarding the Tutorial period tomorrow.  You will remain in your 2nd period class during the Tutorial period (as we have been doing the past couple of weeks), and we will be doing the Open Tutorial period starting on Tuesday.  The substitute may or may not have a presentation to give you, so plan on working on Homework, reading, or otherwise working on something during Tutorial period.

I will miss you all and look forward to seeing you again on Wednesday.
Live long and prosper,
Mr. Marchetti

August 22

Hello ladies and gentlemen,

As always it was wonderful working with you in class today.  Today we started with a short discussion on why geography is important to study and know about the world today.  Afterward we continued our introduction of Google Presentation and then you started working on a presentation about presentation skills with a partner.

You and your partner must finish your Google Presentation assignment by Tuesday, August 26.  You will not get any class time to finish because I will be absent on Monday, August 25, at a District Training.  I will miss you all! I look forward to seeing you again on Wednesday, August 27!

Have a great weekend!

August 20

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen,

As always it was wonderful to see you all in class today.  Today we review the functions of Google Docs as well as the Three Paragraph Activity.  Then you had time in class to work on and finish the Three Paragraph Activity.  All students should have shared their document with me in order to successfully turn it in.  At the end of the class period we were able to briefly introduce Google Presentation (a substitute of PPT and Keynote).

There is no homework tonight!  We will continue to take a look at Google Presentation and you will be completing an activity where you create your own on Friday.

I look forward to seeing you all on Friday.

Mr. Marchetti

August 15

Hello ladies and gentlemen!

So today was our first day together in a block schedule and we were able to get a lot done with our first lesson!  We started the day by figuring out who our clock partners would be, so that in the future we have pre-set partners to work with.  After that we talked about Digital Literacy and how to use Chrome Books and Google Docs.  After we introduced the content, we actually got to open up a Chrome book and practice some of the functions with Google Docs!

I had a great time working with you all today and look forward to seeing you on Monday.  There is no homework this weekend so enjoy!  We will be continuing to work with Google Docs and completing an activity in class on Monday.

Have a great weekend!
Live long and prosper,
Mr. Marchetti

Who am I?

Hello ladies and gentlemen,

I want to welcome you all to my classroom.  I just wanted to share a little bit about myself.  This will be my sixth year at Leland High School and my seventh year teaching overall.  I am also a coach on the Varsity Football team here at Leland and hope that you all make it out to a game or two this year.  I am an avid lover of history and hope to share this passion with all of you in class this year.

I decided to become a teacher in seventh grade.  I considered that since I wanted to major in history I needed to find a good job where I could engage in historical discussions daily, so teaching was the first thing that came to mind!  I graduated from Notre Dame de Namur University in 2007 with a triple major in History, Political Science, & Religious Studies.  I completed my teaching credential in 2008 and jumped right into teaching at a middle school in Daly City for a year, and then came to Leland in 2009.

I have a wide variety of interests that complement my love of history as many of you will learn over the course of the year.  I am a big sports fan, rooting for my favorite teams, which are: The Colts, 49ers, SF Giants, A's, Sharks, & Warriors.  I love science fiction!  My favorite shows/series/books are Star Trek, Star Wars & Battlestar Galactica.  I am also a big comic book fan!  I read a wide variety of comic books but some of my favorites include the Flash, Spider-Man, & Batman.  I am always excited to meet new people and discuss new things so if you share an interest or would like to share an interest with me feel free!

I look forward to working with you all this year!  See you in class!

Live Long and Prosper,

Mr. Marchett
