October 10 & 11 - Review History of Maps and Start Court Cartographer Project

Hello ladies and gentlemen,

Welcome and great to see all you fantastic people!  Today in class we will be reviewing both the Time Zone Project and also the History of Maps (from that reading we did a couple of weeks ago).  After we finish our review we will be starting a project that simulates the practice of map making as it may have applied during the age of exploration.  I hope that everyone is excited and ready to finish up the week strong!  Below you will find our agenda, homework, and resources for the day.

Objectives:
  1. Discuss a history of map making with an emphasis on answering questions related to the content
  2. Read and annotate a unique story from a fictional explorer and create a map based on the information provided
Agenda:
  1. Review Time Zone Project
  2. Introduce: Court Cartographer Project
    1. Grading Rubric
Homework:
  1. History of Maps and Map making, Latitude/Longitude, and Time zones next Thursday/Friday
  2. Court Cartographer Project due next Thursday/Friday after the test
That's all for the day folks!  I hope that you are all doing great and enjoying your return to school!  I hope that everyone here has a fantastic weekend!  Take care and remember that I like you just the way your are!

Live long and prosper,

Mr. Marchetti
