September 17 - 153rd Anniversary of Battle of Antietam

Hello ladies and gentlemen,

It is wonderful to see you all again today!  I missed you while away at my District training.  I would have MUCH rather been in class with you all!  I hope that you were all able to complete the Early Map Making Reading and Annotation.  Just a reminder that tomorrow (Friday the 18th) marks the end of the first 6-week grading period!  This is especially important for all of you Fall athletes as it will determine your academic eligibility for playing your sports!  Today we begin our mapping of Leland's campus and creating a virtual campus tour.  Below you will find our agenda, homework, and resources for the day.

Agenda:
  1. Warm-Up #9
  2. Finish Virtual Tour Day #1:
    1. Technology tutorial
  3. Virtual Tour Day #2:
    1. Directions for Virtual Campus Tour
    2. Data Collection
      1. You will be traveling around the campus in your table groups
      2. While traveling you will be completing the physical copy of the Leland Campus map
        1. Each group will start in a different location
        2. Try to avoid other groups while mapping the campus so that we DO NOT DISTURB other classes in progress
      3. It MUST include everything listed in the Virtual Campus Tour Directions
      4. At least ONE person in each table group must have a smart phone and be able to use it to take and upload pictures to Google Drive
      5. You will have approximately 35 minutes to complete your physical maps of the campus
      6. Once you have completed your Data Collection, return to class and you can begin your Data Transfer
    3. Data Transfer
      1. You will be using the Leland Campus Map Template to create your Virtual Campus Tour
      2. At a minimum you must include all the places that you located on your physical map, as well as images as listed in the directions above.
      3. There is the potential for great Extra Credit if you are willing to go above and beyond the directions for the Virtual Campus Tour
        1. Create a PDF of the School Map with as many "frills" as you can
          1. "Frills" = extras (examples would be links to useful resources for Leland High School Students, create your own art work/animations/gifs/movies to embed within your tour, make it creative and interactive!)
      4. There will be time to finish this activity on Monday/Tuesday of next week.
Homework:
  1. Catch up with any missing class-work!
That's all for today ladies and gentlemen!  I hope that you do well on your Project and be sure to follow all directions!!!

Live long and prosper,

Mr. Marchetti

PS - It's Constitution Day!
