May 11 - Sub Day

Hello ladies and gentlemen,



I will miss you all today!  I hope that you all have a great day today :)

Make sure you follow the directions below in order to successfully complete your Middle East Timelines.  These timelines will have a similar format to the Africa timelines you completed earlier this semester.

Timeline Template

This is a more comprehensive timeline and may require you to expand the dimensions of the template!  Be creative!





Directions:

  1. Create timeline (1300 BCE to 2015 CE) of:
    1. Early Israel
      1. Kingdom of Israel established
      2. Solomon builds the first temple in Jerusalem
    2. Roman Rule
      1. First Jewish Revolt
      2. Second Jewish Revolt
      3. Romans rename province Syria Palestina and expels Jews from Jerusalem
    3. Muslim Rule
      1. Caliph Omar allows Jews to return to Jerusalem
      2. First Crusade
      3. Ottoman Empire conquers Palestine
    4. World Wars
      1. Sykes-Picot Agreement
      2. Balfour Declaration
      3. UN General Assembly passes Resolution 181
    5. Modern Conflict
      1. 1948 Arab-Israeli War
      2. Six-Day War
      3. Yom Kippur War
      4. First Intifada
      5. 2006 Lebanon War
    6. Please use a color code for each section!  Use the list of events/concepts
  2. For each concept:
    1. Identify (Follow the format below):
      1. Name of Concept/Event
      2. When? (Date)
      3. Who (was involved)?
      4. What happened?  Be detailed!!!
      5. Why (is this important)?
  3. Once you have finished collecting your data
    1. Include visual documents to support each timeline description (charts/graphs/maps/photographs/political cartoons)

You will be working in groups of 2-3 and will submit your document as a shared work.  Only the original creator will be turning it in so it is important that all of your group member's names appear in the title and the document!
