November 14 - Introduce Culture Unit

Hello ladies and gentlemen,

Today in class we will be introducing our new unit on culture.  This is a pretty interesting deviation from some of what we have studied lately.  We will begin focusing more primarily on the people around us, as well as examining our own personal and family lives.  Should be fun!  Below you will find our agenda, homework, and resources for the day.

Objective:

1. Analyze the different aspects of culture through a lecture/discussion and examining our own personal and national culture

November 13 - CE and Biomes Quiz

Hello ladies and gentlemen,

Today in class we will be taking our Columbian Exchange and Biomes quiz!  Woohoo!  This should be a relatively easy quiz and hopefully not too stressful!  Big congratulations to our Boys and Girls Waterpolo teams who won CCS championships this weekend!  Also congrats to the Football team getting the #1 seed in the CCS D4 playoffs, we rematch Willow Glen this Friday here at Leland.  Below you will find our agenda, homework, and resources for the day.

November 9 - Intro Workshop Day 2

Hello ladies and gentlemen,

Today in class we will be completing our Introductory Writing Workshop.  I hope that you do your best to make sure that your work is at its best effort.  This is our last day together until next week so lets make it a good one!  Below you will find our agenda, homework, and resources for the day.

Objectives:

1. Write an introduction paragraph in response to the unit question using Google Docs technology and a peer review process

2. Workshop: Intro Writing
1. Intro Writing Sample
3. Finish the Intro Writing Activity early? --> EXTRA CREDIT!!!!
1. Choose a Comic book available in class
1. Must choose a whole story
1. Either a trade (collection of stories)
2. Or a series of issues that make up a story
2. Read it!!!
3. Write a one (or more) page refection on what you read.  Answer the questions below
1. Why did you choose this comic book?
2. Summarize the story.
3. What did you learn while reading?
4. How does the combination of pictures and words make good literature?
5. Would you try reading a comic again?  Why?
4. DUE MONDAY
1. Remember that Extra Credit Points are completely subjective and may or may not be applied to your grade depending on the quality of your work 😜
