October 31 - Comparative Readings (Biomes)

Hello ladies and gentlemen,

Today in class we will be continuing our look at Biomes.  We will be making up a few things that we missed getting to on Thursday but overall we will be getting things done!  I hope that you were able to get a lot done in class yesterday while I was gone.  I missed you all!  Hope you are all doing well!  Below you will find our agenda, homework, and resources for the day.

Objectives:
  1. Read and annotate a text comparing biomes
  2. Create a venn diagram to graphically compare a taiga and temperate forest
  3. Write a comparative summary about biomes

October 30 - Biomes Webquest

Hello ladies and gentlemen,

Today in class you will be using your Biomes Spreadsheets that you created on Thursday last week.  You will be researching about the various biomes online and filling in the appropriate spots of the spreadsheet.  You should be able to get a lot done today in my absence.  Sorry I am gone today!  i would so much rather be with you all, trust me!  Make sure to work hard and get as much done as you can!  Get to it!  Below you will find our agenda, homework, and resources for the day.

Objectives:
  1. Research information about Biomes and enter data into a Google Spreadsheet
Agenda:
  1. Biomes Webquest
  2. Directions
    1. Check out a Chromebook and a Textbook
    2. Access your Google Sheets file!
    3. Fill out your spreadsheet with information in the textbook and online
      1. Use the textbook as your first point of contact (CH 2.1 and 2.2)
      2. Blue Planet Biomes
    4. The spreadsheet is due Tuesday night
  3. What to Write
    1. Location
      1. General latitude zone of this biome (low, mid, or high) with coordinates of the zone
      2. List 3 or more examples of where you can find this Biome
      3. Include a picture of this Biome on a distribution map
    2. Average Temperature
      1. Average Temp or Temperature Range (whatever you find)
    3. Rainfall
      1. Average Rainfall or Amount during the rainy and dry seasons (whatever you find)
    4. Vegetation
      1. List and describe 3 or more plants in the biome with pictures
    5. Animals
      1. List and describe 3 or more animals in the biome with pictures
    6. Seasons
      1. Describe what the Biome is like during each of the 4 seasons
  4. Tips for Success
    1. Insert --> Picture (using url) is better than Copy --> Paste
    2. Be descriptive of your information
      1. Units of measurement (ex. inches of rainfall, Fahrenheit or Celsius
      2. Explanation of what you mean (Ex. This Biome has only 2 main seasons, not 4.  This can be seen by...)
    3. Follow the Advanced Spreadsheet tutorial for a better starting point

  1. Collecting Journals tomorrow!

October 26 - Google Sheets and Biomes Webquest

Hello ladies and gentlemen,

Today in class we will be adding more to our Google Drive Skills, in particular we will be working with Google Sheets.  After you practice creating a Google Sheet you will be researching information on Biomes (similar to what you might have done in Biology!) and then completing the table that you created.  Should be a productive way to end the week!  Let's do this!  Below you will find our agenda, homework, and resources for the day.

  1. Create a graphic organizer by using Google Sheets
  2. Research information about Biomes and enter data into a Google Spreadsheet

October 24 - Finish Reading and start CE Mapping

Today in class we will be finishing the reading on the Columbian Exchange and then we will start a little activity where you will be mapping it!  We are rolling right along here, can you believe it is almost November?  Crazy right?  This is an important topic not only for the rest of our discussions this year, but also for your future history courses.  Really try your best to get it!  Below you will find our agenda, homework, and resources for the day.

October 23 - Introduce the Columbian Exchange

Hello ladies and gentlemen,

I'm back!  I did miss you all while I was gone but I had a ton of fun!  Hopefully you were all able to finish and submit your Court Cartographer Projects as well as successfully take the test on Friday!  Now let's get started on our new unit!  Today in class we will be watching a video on the Columbian Exchange, discussing it, and then reading about it.  This is our first real major historical content unit and I am so excited to talk about history!  Woohoo!  Let's get started!  Below you will find our agenda, homework, and resources for the day.

October 20 - Map Making Test

Today in class you will be turning in your Court Cartographer Project and also taking a test on the History of Maps and Map Making!  This is one of our first bigger tests so make sure to do your best and try hard.  It is a rally schedule so you don't have a ton of time, stay on task!  I will check them out when I return on Monday.  Below you will find our agenda, homework, and resources for the day.

October 17 - Court Cartographer Day 2

Hello ladies and gentlemen,

Today in class you will have time to continue working on your Court Cartographer Project.  I hope that you all had a wonderful weekend!  It is great to see you all again here.  You will have a lot of class time to work on your Court Cartographer Project so I am expecting your best work!  This is also Homecoming Week so have a ton of fun!  Below you will find our agenda, homework, and resources for the day.

October 12 - Review Map Making and Start Court Cartographer Project

Hello ladies and gentlemen,
